Air Residence Makati Overview
You know what struck me first about Air Residence Makati? It’s tucked away on Malugay Street in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something locals might actually use, not just another tourist trap. I mean, you’re still right in the heart of Makati, but there’s this quieter residential vibe that honestly surprised me for a four-star place in such a prime area.
The lobby has this clean, modern feel without being sterile – sort of like staying at a really well-designed extended-stay place rather than a stuffy business hotel. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Greenbelt without dealing with traffic, the front desk guy gave me this whole walking route through the side streets that probably saved me twenty minutes each day. The rooms themselves are spacious by Manila standards, and I loved that the windows actually open – you’d be amazed how many newer hotels seal you in completely. Sure, the street can get a bit noisy during rush hour, but honestly, that’s just Makati being Makati.
Here’s what I didn’t expect: the building has this rooftop area where you can actually see across to the Ayala district, and it’s become my go-to spot for calls back home because the wifi signal is strongest up there. The whole setup feels more like a serviced apartment than a traditional hotel, which works perfectly if you’re staying more than a couple nights. I’ve been in plenty of places around this area, and most either go full corporate bland or try too hard to be boutique-y. This place just… works. The cleaning staff keeps everything spotless without being intrusive, there’s a decent little convenience setup in the lobby for late-night snacks, and – this might sound weird – but the elevators are actually reliable, which you’ll appreciate after a long day walking around the city. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but for the money and location, it hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere that gets what travelers actually need rather than what some marketing department thinks they want.

Great location and apartment is fine for a short stay. Perfect for an airport stopover. Owner is flexible with check in and check out times.
What could be improved: Only 1 proper double bed. Advert is misleading – there is no futon/sofa bed, just a foldable foam mattress and a double camping-style mattress.Excellent experience over all. – Lea from United States – August 7, 2024 (9/10)
