What I love about staying here is how it sits right in the heart of Mandaluyong – you’re basically surrounded by everything you need without feeling like you’re drowning in tourist traps. The SMDC Light Residences building itself is pretty impressive, honestly. I mean, you’ve got that modern high-rise vibe going on, but it doesn’t feel sterile like some of these newer developments. The condo units are spacious in a way that makes you forget you’re in Metro Manila, where every square meter usually costs a fortune. There’s something refreshing about having an actual kitchen and living area – I found myself making coffee in the morning instead of rushing downstairs, which was… actually kind of nice? The air conditioning works like a dream (crucial during those sweltering Manila afternoons), and the Wi-Fi is solid enough that I could work from the dining table without wanting to throw my laptop out the window.

Here’s what really won me over though – the location is just smart. Boni Avenue puts you close enough to Ortigas that you can grab a quick Uber to all the business districts and shopping centers, but you’re not dealing with the constant chaos of EDSA traffic right outside your window. I walked to a bunch of local spots for dinner (there’s this great little Filipino place about two blocks away that locals actually eat at), and getting to BGC or Makati was way easier than I expected. The building’s amenities are solid too – the pool area is perfect for an evening swim when the heat gets unbearable, and there’s decent security that makes you feel comfortable coming back late. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which anyone who’s driven in Manila will tell you is basically a miracle. With a 9.1 rating, it’s clear other travelers have figured out what I did – sometimes the best hotel experience isn’t the fanciest lobby or the most Instagram-worthy rooftop bar. It’s having a comfortable, well-located space that actually makes sense for how you want to experience the city.

  The host was lovely, very accomodating and was prepared to meet us with the keys. The location was great with the rail right there, supermarket and restaurants/fast food outlets were literaly on the ground floor. Not that we needed them, playground and large swimming pool on the 8th floor for kids and family. Felt really safe, as security guard checks your pass coming into the reception area.
  
  What could be improved: Weekend checkin was a bit of an issue as the reception/admin was not there to organise a pass for security so we weren't able to come a go easily until Monday so the host met us to check us in as a guest until then.
