Avery’s Place at SMDC RED RES. Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Avery’s Place at SMDC RED RES. on the 11th floor, you immediately get that “this is someone’s actual home” feeling — which, honestly, is exactly what you want from a place like this. It’s tucked inside one of those modern residential towers along Chino Roces Avenue, and while the building itself looks pretty standard from the outside, the location is what really caught my attention. You’re right in the heart of Makati, which means you can actually walk to decent restaurants and cafes without dealing with Manila’s notorious traffic.

The Space

The room feels more like a well-appointed studio apartment than a typical hotel setup — there’s a proper living area where you can spread out, and the kitchenette is actually functional (I mean, you could cook a real meal if you wanted to). What I really appreciated was how everything felt intentionally chosen rather than just standard hotel furniture. The bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that “slept on a rock” feeling, and there’s decent natural light coming through the windows. You know what’s nice? The place doesn’t try too hard to be fancy — it’s just a solid, comfortable space that works.

Location Perks

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Makati — you’re actually in one of the better neighborhoods in Manila, and it shows. The building sits in what locals consider a prime area, and I can see why couples rate it so highly. You can walk to Greenbelt or Glorietta malls in about 10-15 minutes, which is huge when you don’t want to deal with grabbing a taxi for every little thing. There’s also this whole strip of local eateries along Chino Roces that most tourists never discover, but honestly, some of the best Filipino food I had was just a few blocks away.

Practical Stuff

The four-star rating feels about right — it’s not trying to be an upscale resort, but everything works the way it should. The WiFi is reliable (crucial for anyone working remotely), and the building has decent security, which gives you that peace of mind you want in a big city. I actually found the whole setup pretty ideal for longer stays since you have space to live rather than just sleep. The building management keeps things running smoothly, and there’s a restaurant on the ground floor if you don’t feel like venturing out.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’ll be posting Instagram shots of the lobby, but that’s sort of the point. It’s genuine, comfortable, and in a location that actually makes sense for exploring Manila. The fact that it consistently gets high ratings tells you something — people come here and feel at home, not like they’re staying in some sterile hotel box. For couples especially, having that extra space and the ability to cook together or just hang out without being cramped makes a real difference. Plus, you’re paying for location and comfort, not marble lobbies and overpriced room service.

Internet is good, clean and comfortable room, new building, the security guard is in the lobby 24h, convenience store near the entrance, I could do later check-in and early check-out because my flight time

What could be improved: weak shower pressure, traffic noise, the building is still under construction(noise)

  • Perfect location and new building. Great stay – Cathelyn from Spain – August 5, 2024 (9/10)

    Location and comfortable bed

  • I almost cancelled my booking due to the hassle and move to another property but all is good. – Margel from Philippines – July 7, 2024 (8/10)

The location is perfect. The amenities are complete.

What could be improved: I have a hard time entering the property as there is some miscommunication between the owner and the condominium management. It is a hassle as I need to go to the condominium office accompanied by the guard. The property is very good. I just noticed that everything is designed for a short person. For example, the shower is positioned too low. I've seen many hairs inside the room so I'm guessing that the previous guest is a female.

  • highly recommended – Alessandro from Philippines – June 29, 2024 (10/10)

Excellent location, cosy place, understanding owners, we will go back there for our next trip

I loved the place itself, the view deck, the room and amenities. My son also enjoyed playing games, watching movies and the shower. He loves shower very much. We just wished next time, we could enjoy swimming.

What could be improved: Nothing at all!
