Beachfront U.S. Embassy Family Retreat. Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Beachfront U.S. Embassy Family Retreat, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The location threw me off a bit too, since it’s actually situated in the Grand Riviera Suites building rather than right on the sand like you might imagine. But after spending a few days there during my last trip to Manila, I get why families keep coming back to this four-star spot.
The thing that struck me most was how they’ve managed to create this bubble of calm in what can be a pretty chaotic city. You know what I mean if you’ve ever tried to navigate Manila traffic – it’s intense. But once you’re inside, there’s this surprising sense of space and quiet that’s hard to find elsewhere in the area. The rooms are genuinely family-friendly, not just the usual hotel marketing speak. I’m talking about actual room to spread out, decent-sized bathrooms where you’re not bumping into each other, and – this was huge for the kids I was traveling with – really reliable wifi and air conditioning that actually works. The embassy connection means they take security seriously too, which honestly gave me peace of mind, especially when the kids wanted to explore the building’s common areas.
What really won me over was the staff’s approach to service. They’re not overly formal or scripted like at some of the flashier places, but they actually listen and remember what you need. I mean, by day three they knew exactly how I liked my coffee and which newspapers I wanted. The restaurant situation is pretty solid – nothing fancy, but the kind of reliable comfort food that works when you’re dealing with jet lag or picky eaters. The pool area gets busy during weekends (fair warning), but weekday mornings it’s practically empty, which was perfect for some quiet time. Location-wise, you’re close enough to the business district that getting around isn’t a nightmare, but far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually relax. I’d definitely stay there again, especially if I was traveling with family – it just makes sense for that kind of trip.
Hotel in Manila booking should be done early, especially during festival season when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural events and street parades at historic venues.

Reviews of Beachfront U.S. Embassy Family Retreat.
Exceptional – Nestor from Philippines – September 10, 2025 (10/10)
The kitchen had small but useful extras like an electric kettle and rice cooker, which made preparing meals so much easier
Exceptional – Felicitas from Germany – September 10, 2025 (10/10)
The Wi-Fi speed was impressive — I was able to join Zoom meetings without interruptions. Great for digital nomads

Location good.
No meals available on site
What could be improved: Pool surrounding were poor
No tables or chairs
No restaurant on site but places to eat within walk-in g distance.Very Good – Aneta from Ireland – June 20, 2025 (8/10)
The rooms and all furniture was very comfortable. There was a gym and swimming pool on 6th floor and view from 52nd floor was outstanding. Close to the port and restaurants. Convenience shop in the same building. Friendly staff. Rooms had air conditioning.
What could be improved: Just entering our bathroom noticed cockroach. Later, I saw a few more, and this really ruined my perception and comfort of sleeping and the whole apartment. I understand that pests are not only one apartment's responsibility, especially in 55 floor building. However, I can't give great marks for the property I couldn't enjoy. Also, the cash deposit requirement was adding additional discomfort as we had to get it from atm, and then it prolonged our checkout time, as we had to chase the women to get our money back. No issues it was returned in the same notes. However, as this was our last day in Manila, we were forced to buy unnecessary things to spend it.Comfortable and cozy – Kenneth from United States – May 12, 2025 (8/10)
Perfect location and proximity to Rizal Park and Intramural. Very well maintained with good amenities.
What could be improved: No complaints 😉Good – Jayne from United Kingdom – May 11, 2025 (7/10)
Interesting view of city. Pool was nice and staff downstairs very friendly. Was greated by owners son who was not very communicative. Let us extend our check out for a small payment as we wasn't flying till evening.
What could be improved: There was no cups plates or any utensils even though there was a kettle, had to ask clear for cup so we could make coffee. Advertised as 2 bedroom but 2nd bed was in the main room.not what was expected.A great location compromised by a poor experience. – Mark from Philippines – October 2, 2024 (7/10)
Excellent location, convenient to the US embassy, shopping and the Oceanarium as well as other entertainment venues. Very nice apartment, great front desk staff. I'd stay in this building again but not in this owners apartment.
What could be improved: The staff at the facility are fine however our experience with the owner of the apartment was quite underwhelming. This is a great apartment at a great location but she was not very accommodating. We had to wait for her several hours to check in as she would not allow us an early check in. When traveling ones schedule is often dictated by flight times etc. Traveling with kids complicates things even more. We spent some time shopping as the fantastic front desk crew watched our luggage before the check in. We actually ended up late for a meeting with some family members as the owner arrived onsite after the scheduled check in time. The listing is exaggerated. The "private" pool is the same pool everyone else there can use. The "private" entrance was just down the hall from all the other "private" entrances. The living area is a two person sofa. The dining table is a decorative table. The kitchen amenities are several cups. The refrigerator wasn't a ref but instead a water cooled cooler (swamp cooler) that didn't work anyways. There was NO TV and the wifi kicked me off after 30 minutes. No password was provided as the host son logged me in when we asked about the rooms wifi. Plus we had to wait quite some time to avail of our security deposit. A lesson in etiquette or a Dale Carnegie course would go a long way here.Nice staycation. – Rica from Philippines – August 29, 2024 (8/10)
I like the cleanliness of the room.
What could be improved: It could have been much better if there are TV's installed in the room 🙂Very fine – Gaudencio from Philippines – February 2, 2024 (8/10)
The location and the view from the property
What could be improved: No microwave ovenGood place, good value of money. – Mila from Canada – January 22, 2024 (8/10)
It was very clean and easy to communicate with the owner.
It's very safe area and close to Luneta Park.
I'll recommend this place to all my friends and relatives.
What could be improved: We were 5 but only have 4 towels. Luckily I brought mine.
I wish they provide the essential cooking wares like microwave, toaster.
