Joey’s Place Calathea DMCI Overview
I’ll be honest, when I first heard the name Joey’s Place Calathea DMCI, I wasn’t sure what to expect – it sounds more like a friend’s apartment than a hotel. But this four-star spot in Valley 1 actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked into one of those newer DMCI developments along Sucat Road, which means you get that fresh, well-planned community vibe rather than the chaos you sometimes find in other parts of Paranaque.
What really struck me was how they’ve managed to feel more like a serviced residence than a typical hotel – and I mean that as a compliment. The units are spacious (you know how rare that is in Manila), with actual living areas where you can spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The kitchen setup is particularly nice if you’re staying for more than a few days, though honestly, with all the food options around Sucat Road, you might not use it much. The building itself has that solid DMCI construction quality – thick walls, decent soundproofing, reliable elevators. I’ve stayed in enough Manila hotels where the AC sounds like a helicopter, but here it’s refreshingly quiet.
Location-wise, you’re in a sweet spot that locals appreciate but tourists often overlook. You’re close enough to the airport that you won’t panic about traffic (maybe 20 minutes on a good day, 45 minutes during rush hour), but far enough that you’re not dealing with constant plane noise. The SM BF Paranaque is just a quick tricycle ride away when you need mall conveniences, and there are some solid local eateries along the main road – the kind of places where you’ll see families having Sunday lunch rather than tourist crowds. Parking isn’t an issue here either, which is honestly a huge relief if you’re planning to rent a car. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well, not just the scripted recommendations you get at chain hotels. When I asked about getting to Alabang without dealing with EDSA traffic, they suggested back roads I never would have found on my own. The 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the metro, but it delivers on comfort and practicality in ways that matter for an actual stay.

My family loved the place. There was a slight problem with the wifi as repair work by the ISP was ongoing during our stay, but eventually, we were able to use it and it was fast at 100+ mbps.
ACs were cool, plus there were fans available. We were able to use the induction cooker and rice cooker.
Walking distance to many restaurants, and grocery stores.
And the price is very affordable, it was definitely a good deal.
Mabait pa si sir Joey. 👍👍👍
Will definitely consider going here again next time.Exceptional – Rosario from Philippines – February 21, 2023 (10/10)
Joey was there to provide the key to the condo. He was so accommodating to our needs. Joey was a message away if we had any questions. Joey gave us a thorough tour of the condo. It is located in a central section of Paranaque where restaurants, S&R, and even 7-11 is within walking distance. The security of the facility is excellent as the guards make sure who is entering and leaving. We felt safe and very comfortable. I highly recommend Joey's condo.
What could be improved: Nothing much really.
