But after spending a few nights there, I actually get why this place has been quietly building a solid reputation among travelers who want something different from the usual Makati hotel scene.

The thing that hits you first is how this four-star spot feels more like staying in a really well-appointed apartment than a traditional hotel. I mean, you’re literally in a residential building, so there’s this interesting vibe where you’re mixing with actual Manila residents in the elevators and lobby areas. The staff clearly knows this setup might feel weird at first – they’re incredibly helpful about explaining how everything works, from the building access cards to the best times to grab elevators during rush hour. What really surprised me was the attention to detail in the rooms themselves. Everything feels fresh and modern, with these floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open (rare for Makati hotels, honestly) and give you proper views of the city rather than just another building wall three feet away.

Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot that locals know but tourists often miss. Chino Roces isn’t the flashy Ayala area where most visitors end up, but that’s actually perfect if you want to experience Manila without the constant tourist hustle. There’s this great mix of local eateries and cafes within walking distance – I stumbled across this incredible sisig place just two blocks away that I never would have found staying in the usual hotel districts. The building itself has decent parking (which, let’s be real, is gold in this city), and you’re close enough to the major business districts that Grab rides don’t cost a fortune or take forever in traffic. I also appreciated that the residential setting means things quiet down at night – you’re not dealing with the constant noise from busy hotel bars or lobby activities that can keep you up. The whole experience feels more authentic, like you’re actually living in Manila for a few days rather than just passing through in a tourist bubble. For the price point and that solid 8.3 rating, it makes total sense – you’re getting genuine value without the inflated costs that come with staying in the more obvious hotel zones.

  Gezellig appartementje in een goede buurt. De bewaker aan de ingang was vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

  What could be improved: At arrival, late at night, the security guard was power hungry. All the correct documentation, emails, Wi-Fi code, door entry code, approval of stay, guest authorisation form but this guard would allow access for nearly 30 minutes of a long discussion exceeding his power

  It is a good location and nice view from balcony on the night, with bar stools and table. Facilities okay but…
  
  What could be improved: Late night guards wanted an extra piece of paper before letting me go upto the room upon arriving, even though I had the code for the door already and showed them everything.
  Swimming pool cost is a bit expensive compared to other places, and finally only visit the gym after normal working hours with no guard, as the day guard says its policy for guests to be staying for at least 30 days to be able to use the gym.

  What could be improved: It was a non refundable booking. The owner urged me to cancel it, I didn't. They said they already had someone else for the apartment. The said they would refund my booking, they didn't.

  The apartment is very practical and well-designed. It had everything we needed for a good self-sufficient staycation! I especially loved the inclusion of a fridge, cooking appliances, washing machine, and even a karaoke machine in the amenities!
  
  What could be improved: The washing machine's drain wasn't plugged into the wall, so when water started coming out of it onto the floor, it caught me by surprise. However, there's a sinkhole on the floor in the bathroom, so the water drained quite quickly.
