New World Makati Hotel, Manila Overview
You know what caught me off guard about New World Makati Hotel, Manila? The lobby actually feels intimate despite being this sprawling five-star property right in the heart of everything. I mean, you walk in from the chaos of Makati Avenue – and trust me, that intersection with Esperanza gets absolutely wild during rush hour – and suddenly you’re in this calm, sophisticated space that doesn’t try too hard to impress you.
The location is honestly perfect if you’re doing business in Makati or want to be walking distance from decent shopping and restaurants. Ayala Center is literally right there, which means you can grab coffee at that little place on the ground floor of Greenbelt or hit up the good ramen spot without dealing with Manila traffic. I’ve stayed here three times now, and each time I’m reminded how nice it is to just walk places instead of sitting in a taxi for an hour. The rooms on the higher floors – try to get one facing away from Makati Avenue if you’re sensitive to street noise – have these great views of the city sprawl, especially at sunset when everything gets bathed in that golden pollution haze that somehow looks beautiful.
What really sets this place apart though is the staff actually remembers you, even if you’re not some VIP guest. The concierge helped me figure out the best route to Intramuros during my second stay (avoid the weekend crowds, go early morning), and housekeeping always left my room exactly how I like it without me having to ask twice. The pool area is surprisingly peaceful considering you’re in the middle of one of Manila’s busiest districts – it’s tucked away on an upper floor where the city noise becomes this distant hum. Food’s solid too; their Filipino breakfast spread beats most hotel attempts at local cuisine, and room service doesn’t take forever like some places in the area. Honestly, if you’re splitting time between meetings in Makati and exploring the rest of Manila, this is one of those hotels where you’ll actually want to come back at the end of the day instead of just tolerating it as a place to sleep.

The staff were amazing. From Bien who met us at the airport and ushered us to our pre-booked transport to the hotel upon our arrival. Nelson at the lobby on our arrival at the hotel and Von who asked if there’s anything else he can helped us with upon checked out at the concierge…. Yes, we’ve checked out. Yet Von anticipated our needs and facilitated our transport back to the airport. Guys, your customer service is excellent!
What could be improved: Nothing that we can think of…Still a great place – Hendrikus from Netherlands – September 4, 2025 (8/10)
LOCATION! For years the New World has been my home away from home. However, I must conclude that the recent acquisition by the Ayala Group resulted in some changes not for the best. Obvious changes in food availability/choices/buffet at increased prices.
Exceptional – Hiran from Philippines – September 3, 2025 (10/10)
