I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Royal Victorian Studio in Makati, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a studio unit on the 46th floor. But this four-star spot actually surprised me in the best way possible. The elevator ride up feels like it takes forever (you know how those high-rise buildings are), but once those doors open and you step into unit 4618, the view just stops you in your tracks. You’re literally floating above Makati, and on clear days – which, let’s face it, aren’t super common in Manila – you can see all the way to the bay.

The studio itself is smartly designed, I mean really thoughtfully laid out for the space they’re working with. Everything has its place without feeling cramped, and honestly, the Victorian touches don’t feel gimmicky like they could have. There’s this nice balance between the classic details and modern functionality that actually works. The kitchen area is compact but has everything you’d actually need if you’re planning to cook (though with Makati’s food scene right downstairs, why would you?). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets up there – you’re high enough that the street noise from Yakal just becomes this distant hum, which is pretty remarkable considering you’re in the middle of one of Metro Manila’s busiest districts.

The location is what really sells this place for me, though. You’re on Yakal, which means you can walk to Greenbelt in about ten minutes, maybe fifteen if you’re taking your time. The building security is solid – they actually check IDs and call up, which some travelers find annoying but I think is reassuring when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. Parking can be a bit of a challenge during peak hours (like, good luck finding a spot after 6 PM on weekdays), but the building does have designated spaces. The neighborhood gets pretty lively at night, especially on weekends, so if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack some earplugs just in case. Overall though, it’s one of those places that feels like you’re actually living in Makati rather than just visiting – and for the price point of a four-star place, you’re getting way more space and personality than you’d find in most hotels around here.
