I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Shell Residences MOA – Josh staycation, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a condo-hotel setup in Pasay. But after spending a few nights there, I get why people keep coming back to this four-star spot.

The location is honestly pretty perfect if you’re planning to hit up Mall of Asia or catch a flight the next day. You’re literally a stone’s throw from SM MOA, which means you can grab dinner at whatever hour you want – and trust me, after a long day exploring Manila, being able to walk to Krispy Kreme at 10 PM without dealing with traffic is kind of amazing. The shuttle to the airport runs regularly too, though honestly I just took a taxi since it’s so close. What really surprised me was how quiet it actually gets at night, despite being in such a busy area. I mean, you’ll hear some city noise, but nothing that kept me awake.

The units themselves feel more like actual apartments than hotel rooms, which is refreshing after staying in cramped Manila hotels. You get a proper kitchenette – not just a mini fridge and coffee maker – so you can actually cook if you want to save money or just miss having real food. The AC works great (crucial in this climate, obviously), and the Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building. I noticed the elevators can get a bit slow during peak hours when families are heading out for the day, but it’s not terrible. The staff at the front desk genuinely seem to know the area well – they gave me directions to this little local restaurant that I never would’ve found otherwise, and they were spot-on about which SM MOA entrance to use depending on where you’re headed. The building has decent security too, which matters when you’re staying somewhere new. You know what really sold me though? The view from some of the higher floors – you can actually see Manila Bay, and if you time it right, the sunsets are pretty spectacular. It’s not luxury resort territory, but for the price and location, especially if you need to be near the airport or want easy access to MOA without the tourist hotel markup, this place just works.
