EV Place Overview
I’ll be honest, EV Place caught me off guard in the best possible way. When you’re walking down Taft Avenue in Manila, you might almost miss it tucked into the Vista Residence building – but that’s actually part of its charm. This four-star spot feels more like discovering a well-kept secret than checking into your typical hotel.
The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s honestly pretty remarkable considering you’re right in the heart of one of Manila’s busiest districts. I mean, Taft Avenue can be absolutely chaotic during rush hour, but somehow the noise just doesn’t penetrate once you’re in the lobby. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful – not that overly rehearsed hotel politeness, but actually seemed to care about making sure I knew my way around the neighborhood. They pointed me toward a fantastic local coffee shop just two blocks down that I never would have found otherwise.
What really sets this place apart is how they’ve managed to create something that feels both modern and comfortable without being sterile. The rooms have this nice balance – clean lines and updated fixtures, but with enough character that you don’t feel like you’re sleeping in a corporate box. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the air conditioning actually works properly, which honestly isn’t always a given in Manila hotels. You know what surprised me most though? The water pressure in the shower was fantastic, and the hot water was consistent even during peak hours. These might sound like small details, but when you’ve been walking around Manila all day in that humidity, a proper shower becomes pretty crucial.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience real Manila without being completely overwhelmed by it. You’re close enough to all the action – Rizal Park is maybe a fifteen-minute walk, and you can easily grab a jeepney or taxi to Intramuros or the shopping districts. But you’re also in this residential area where you can actually see how locals live, grab authentic street food (there’s this incredible lumpia vendor right around the corner), and feel like you’re part of the neighborhood rather than just passing through it. I spent one evening just wandering the surrounding streets and ended up having the most genuine conversations with shop owners and families hanging out on their stoops.
The building itself shares space with actual residents, which gives it this authentic lived-in feeling that you just don’t get in those big international hotel chains. Sometimes you’ll share the elevator with someone carrying groceries or kids coming home from school – it sounds mundane, but it actually made me feel more connected to the city. With an 8.1 rating, it’s clear other travelers have picked up on what makes this place special too. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Manila, but it absolutely nails being a comfortable, genuine base for exploring the city. If you want somewhere that feels real rather than just Instagram-perfect, this is your spot.
Manila’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Filipino hospitality and metropolitan sophistication, with many featuring spa services and authentic Filipino cultural experiences.

Reviews of EV Place
Thoughtfully furnished and provisioned – Antonio from Philippines – September 1, 2025 (9/10)
Thoughtfully furnished and provisioned. Much of what you may need is there – extension cord, hangers, drinking water, flashlight, etc, even cooking rice. Location was excellent, accessible to many places, with an abundance of services nearby.
What could be improved: Matress was thin, could be more comfortable. Occasionally, some tiny cockroaches apear. I think this is a building issue, not something the host could control.Very Good – Anonymous from Philippines – July 14, 2025 (8/10)

Visiting in Manila – Pasi from Finland – November 29, 2024 (8/10)
Basic apartment in a good lication.
Peacuful building. WiFi was fast.
Supermarket to buy groceries etc was 200 m away.
Airport 20-30 mins by taxi.
Old city and some museums 3-5 km away. You can walk there.
The host responded fast.Disappointing – Ilia from Russia – May 17, 2024 (4/10)
Хорошее местоположение
What could be improved: Ужасный "пропускной режим" в здании. Ты как в тюрьме.
Что бы к тебе пришел гость, нужно получить разрешение от собственника, заполнить онлайн анкету. Сайт с анкетой работает плохо. Приходится заполнять по 3-5 раз. Занимает 20-50 минут, что бы получить разрешение на вход 😡😡😡Die Unterkunft braucht dringend eine Grundreinigung, vor allem der Schimmel sollte dringend entfernt – Paula from Germany – April 11, 2024 (4/10)
Die Bahn ist direkt vor der Tür.
What could be improved: Bad verschimmelt.
Love how responsive the host was.
Exceptional – Joana from Philippines – May 29, 2023 (10/10)
First i love the owner of the unit, she's responsive, considerate and kind The place is clean and with comfortable bed and sheets. The location is very accessible and next to lots of restaurants, public transportation and Malls, like Robinsons Manila and MOA. The place was complete with utensils, tissue and towels. The view was great, the internet connection was great. We extended our stay here, as it's one of the best place to stay in Manila for a few days with a reasonable price.
It was great and comfortable… the host is very responsive. – Mayline – March 27, 2023 (10/10)
