Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about SLY Staycation at Shore Residences Mall of Asia, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name’s a bit of a mouthful, and staycation spots can be hit or miss. But this five-star setup actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The location on Sunrise Drive is pretty clever if you know Pasay at all. You’re literally walking distance from SM Mall of Asia – and I mean actually walking distance, not that “short 15-minute drive” nonsense you usually get. When you step out of Shore Residences Tower C2, you can see the mall’s massive outline right there. It’s perfect for those times when you want to grab dinner at the food court (honestly, their selection is incredible) or catch a late movie without dealing with Manila traffic. The bay area is right there too, so if you’re into those sunset walks along the water, you’re set.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to create this bubble of calm despite being in such a busy area. The Tower C2 building itself feels solid – none of that paper-thin wall situation you get in some places. I could barely hear my neighbors, which was a relief considering how packed this area gets during weekends. The unit I stayed in had this great view toward Manila Bay, and you know what? Watching the planes take off from NAIA while sipping coffee in the morning became my little ritual. Speaking of airports, if you’re flying in or out, this place is ridiculously convenient – maybe 10 minutes by car when traffic’s decent.

The amenities are where this place really shines though. The pool area feels like you’re at a proper resort, not just some apartment building add-on. They’ve got this infinity pool setup that overlooks the bay, and during weekday afternoons it’s practically empty – perfect for actual swimming instead of just posing for photos. The gym’s decent too, nothing fancy but it has what you need if you’re trying to work off all that Mall of Asia food court damage.

I mean, it’s not perfect – the elevators can get pretty crowded during peak hours (everyone’s coming and going from shopping trips), and sometimes the wifi gets a bit spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming. But honestly, these are minor complaints when you consider what you’re getting. The staff actually knows what they’re doing, check-in was smooth, and they gave me solid recommendations for local spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps.

If you’re planning a Manila trip and want to be in the thick of things without the chaos of staying right in the city center, this works really well. You get that resort-y staycation vibe while still being connected to everything – the bay, the shopping, decent restaurants, and easy airport access. Just book early if you’re coming during holiday season because this place fills up fast, especially with locals who know a good thing when they see it.
