When Solaire Resort North first opened in Vertis North, I’ll be honest – I wasn’t sure what to expect from this massive complex rising up from what used to be a pretty quiet corner of Quezon City. But after spending a few nights there, I get why it’s been making waves in Manila’s hotel scene. This five-star property actually manages to feel both grand and surprisingly welcoming, which isn’t always easy to pull off.

The thing that struck me right away was how they’ve designed the place to handle the chaos of Manila traffic without making you feel trapped inside. You’re on Solaire Way, which connects pretty seamlessly to the main Vertis North area – and honestly, having that buffer from the typical QC street noise is a game-changer. The lobby has this soaring ceiling thing going on that could feel intimidating, but somehow it just makes you want to sink into one of those oversized chairs with a drink. Speaking of drinks, their bar area gets surprisingly lively around sunset, mostly with a mix of business travelers and locals who clearly know this place is worth the trip from other parts of the metro.

What really won me over, though, were the details that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. The rooms have these blackout curtains that actually work (you know how rare that is), and the air conditioning is powerful enough to handle Manila’s humidity without sounding like a jet engine. I mean, the bathroom alone is bigger than some hotel rooms I’ve stayed in elsewhere in the city. The pool area is where they really show off – it’s got this resort vibe that makes you forget you’re basically in the middle of one of the world’s busiest metropolitan areas. You’ll find it gets pretty busy on weekends with staycationers, but weekday mornings are almost serene. The staff seems genuinely proud of the place too, which always makes a difference – they’re quick with recommendations for getting around the area and actually know their stuff about the local dining scene. If you’re looking for something that feels like a proper escape without having to leave the city entirely, this place delivers on that promise better than most of the competition.

  The Resort is brand new, spotless, and the service is top notch. There are separate areas for the casino goers. The hotel has a signature scent which helps with the experience.
  
  What could be improved: The Red Lantern restaurant with all you can eat dimsum lunch and kung fu tea performance is next to the casino with second hand smoke wafting into the food service area.

  Strategic location, friendly staff, relaxing gym and basketball court, delicious with wide variety of breakfast buffet, comfortable bed, clean and spotless room, huge bathroom… I'm definitely coming back again. Thank you for a complimentary birthday cheese cake. It's so delicious.
  
  What could be improved: Sauna was under renovation when I checked in. I would like to experience it with a free room upgrade. 🙂 The pool is a little bit small for me, and pool water needs to do extra cleaning or treatment.
