I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Affordable 2 BR 2 BA w/ Skycable, Netflix, & Amazon Prime, I thought it was going to be one of those cookie-cutter Airbnb situations. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked into the California Garden Square complex in Mandaluyong, and once you get past that slightly overwhelming name, you realize someone really thought about what travelers actually want.

The location is sort of perfect if you know Metro Manila – you’re right on Domingo M. Guevara, which means you can actually get places without dealing with the worst of the traffic nightmares. I mean, it’s still Manila traffic, but from here you can hop over to Ortigas pretty easily, or even make your way to BGC without wanting to throw your phone out the window. The Fairfox Tower setup gives it this four-star feel without the pretentious lobby scene – honestly, I appreciated that. There’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on the apartment itself rather than trying to impress you with marble everything downstairs.

What really won me over was how livable it felt. The two bedrooms actually make sense (not like those weird layouts where the second “bedroom” is basically a closet), and having two full bathrooms is a game-changer if you’re traveling with family or friends. But here’s the thing that shows someone was thinking – they didn’t just slap “Netflix and Amazon Prime” in the name for show. The entertainment setup is genuinely solid, with Skycable giving you local channels plus all the streaming stuff actually works properly. I’ve stayed in places where the WiFi barely loads email, let alone streams anything, so this was refreshing. The building itself is pretty quiet considering you’re in the middle of everything – the California Garden Square complex does a decent job of buffering street noise, though you’ll still hear the occasional jeepney convoy if you’re a light sleeper. Parking isn’t a total disaster either, which in Mandaluyong is basically a minor miracle. Check-in was straightforward, none of that awkward “meet me at the 7-Eleven” stuff you sometimes get with apartment rentals. The whole experience felt more like staying in a well-run serviced apartment than someone’s spare room they’re trying to monetize.
