I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to BGC, Uptown Parksuites Tower 2, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a condo-hotel setup on the 15th floor of what’s basically a residential building. But you know what? Sometimes these places surprise you, and this four-star spot in Taguig definitely grew on me during my stay.

The thing about staying in BGC is that you’re right in the heart of Manila’s business district, which means incredible food options within walking distance – I’m talking about everything from hole-in-the-wall Filipino joints to those fancy rooftop places that Instagram influencers love. The hotel itself sits on 9th Avenue, and while the building exterior won’t win any architecture awards, once you’re up on that 15th floor, the views actually make up for it. I could see straight across to the other gleaming towers, and honestly, there’s something oddly satisfying about watching the city buzz below while you’re sipping coffee in your pajamas.

What I really appreciated was how the rooms feel more like proper apartments than typical hotel boxes – there’s actual space to spread out, decent kitchenette facilities (though I mainly used mine for storing leftover sisig), and the kind of setup where you don’t feel cramped after day three of your trip. The air conditioning works like a dream, which, let me tell you, is crucial when you’re dealing with Manila’s humidity. I mean, I’ve stayed in places where the AC sounds like a dying helicopter, but this was refreshingly quiet. The Wi-Fi held up well too, even when I was video calling back home during peak hours. Now, the building does get busy during rush hours since it’s mixed-use, so don’t expect a serene hotel lobby experience – it’s more like navigating a regular condo building, complete with office workers grabbing elevators. But honestly? That gave it a more authentic, lived-in vibe that I found kind of refreshing compared to those sterile chain hotels. Plus, you’re literally minutes from High Street and all those shopping centers, and when you want to escape the BGC bubble, grabbing a taxi or Grab to Makati or other parts of Manila is straightforward. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises.
