Century Park Hotel Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Century Park Hotel? It’s actually got this old-school Manila charm that you don’t see much anymore in the city’s hotel scene. Tucked away on P. Ocampo Street in Malate, it feels like stepping into a piece of Manila’s history – I mean, this neighborhood has seen everything from Spanish colonial days to the buzzing nightlife district it became in the ’90s.

The thing about this four-star place is that it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. The lobby has these massive marble columns and dark wood accents that remind you this hotel has been around the block, but honestly, that’s part of its appeal. My room on the eighth floor had decent city views (you can actually spot Manila Bay if you crane your neck), and the air conditioning worked like a dream – which, let’s be real, is half the battle in Manila’s humidity. The beds are comfortable enough, though the pillows are a bit on the soft side if you’re picky about that sort of thing. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in the heart of Malate. You’re close enough to hear the city’s pulse, but the thick walls keep most of the street noise out.

Here’s where Century Park Hotel really wins me over – the location is actually perfect for exploring Manila without feeling like you’re stuck in the tourist bubble. You’re walking distance from Rizal Park and the National Museum (about 15 minutes if you don’t mind the heat), but you’re also right in the middle of where actual Filipinos hang out. There’s this little carinderia around the corner that serves killer adobo, and the hotel staff – who are genuinely helpful, not just going through the motions – pointed me toward some local spots I never would’ve found otherwise. The breakfast spread is solid Filipino comfort food mixed with continental options, nothing fancy but definitely satisfying. I spent most mornings on their outdoor terrace with coffee, watching the city wake up below. Sure, it’s not the flashiest hotel Manila has to offer, and the elevator can be a bit slow during peak hours, but there’s something refreshingly authentic about staying here. It feels like you’re experiencing Manila as it actually is, not some sanitized version designed for tourists who never want to leave their hotel bubble.
