I mean, when you first pull up to Aurora Boulevard, you’re thinking “okay, this is going to be all traffic noise and city chaos,” but honestly, once you step inside, it’s like they’ve figured out some kind of soundproofing magic.

The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard – you’ll notice the warm wood accents and these interesting local art pieces that actually tell a story about the area. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Eastwood City for dinner, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he told me exactly which jeepney routes to take and warned me about the evening rush around 6 PM. That’s the kind of local insight you don’t get from most four-star places. The rooms themselves are smartly designed, especially considering Manila’s space constraints. The AC works like a dream (crucial in this humidity), and I loved that they had actual blackout curtains – not those flimsy hotel curtains that let in all the streetlight. Small thing, but it matters when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.

What really sets this place apart is its position in the Escalades area – you’re walking distance from some fantastic local eateries that most tourists never discover. There’s this hole-in-the-wall sisig place two blocks down that the hotel concierge recommended, and honestly, it was better than anything I had in the touristy parts of Manila. The hotel’s breakfast buffet is solid too, though I’d skip it some mornings just to explore the neighborhood’s street food scene. Parking can be a bit tight during peak hours, and you’ll definitely hear some city sounds if you’re a really light sleeper, but that’s Manila for you. The WiFi actually works well throughout the building – I was able to video call from the lobby without any issues. If you’re looking for a base that puts you in the real Manila without sacrificing comfort, this place nails that balance perfectly.
