You know what caught me off guard about Graceful Getaway Suites? I was expecting another generic apartment-style place on Pea Road, but this spot actually has some character to it. I mean, the location in Pasay isn’t the most glamorous – you’re basically in a residential area that feels more like where locals live than where tourists usually end up – but that’s sort of what I liked about it.

The suites themselves are surprisingly spacious, and honestly, the four-star rating feels about right. They’ve got that modern Filipino hospitality thing down where the staff genuinely seems happy to see you, not just going through the motions. My unit had this decent little kitchenette that actually worked (the induction cooktop was a nice touch), and the air conditioning was strong enough to battle the Manila humidity without sounding like a jet engine. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which matters if you’re trying to get work done. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed at night – I was worried about street noise since you’re right there on the main road, but the windows do their job well.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Pasay – you’re not walking distance from the tourist spots, but you’re close enough to everything that matters without paying those insane Makati or BGC prices. There’s a 7-Eleven literally around the corner (because of course there is), and I found this little carinderia about two blocks down that served better adobo than some restaurants I’ve paid triple for in Greenbelt. The MRT isn’t super close, but honestly, Grab works fine from here and won’t cost you a fortune. If you’re flying out of NAIA, you’re actually in a decent spot – much closer than if you stayed in the main tourist areas. The front desk helped me arrange a reasonably priced airport transfer, and the driver knew exactly where to find the place, which isn’t always guaranteed with these newer properties. I stayed here during the rainy season, and while you’ll definitely want an umbrella for getting around, the building itself stayed dry and comfortable. The whole experience felt more like staying in a well-run local place rather than some international chain that could be anywhere in the world, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

  We had a wonderful stay. Comfy beds. Good internet connection. Has kitchen tools/utensils. Very cold ref. Very near to MOA. Lots of chinese restos within the vicinity. Easy booking of transportation using grab.
  
  What could be improved: The aircon was not that cold for a temp of 17 degrees. And it would be better if there is an additional lock on the main door. It would also be nice if there is a shower caddy for the shampoo/conditioner inside the shower.
