You know what caught me off guard about Holiday Inn & Suites Makati by IHG? I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a chain hotel, but this place actually gets it right. I mean, being practically inside Glorietta Mall sounds like it could be a nightmare – all that foot traffic and potential noise – but they’ve somehow managed to create this surprisingly peaceful bubble right in the heart of all the action.

The location is pretty brilliant if you think about it. You’re literally steps away from some of the best shopping and dining in Makati, but you can also just pop down to grab groceries or catch a movie without dealing with Manila traffic (which, let’s be honest, is a huge win). I spent a good chunk of one evening just wandering around Ayala Center, and when I got tired, I was back in my room within minutes. The five-star rating might seem generous for a Holiday Inn, but the service really does feel more premium than what you’d expect – the front desk staff actually remembered my name after the first day, and housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive.

What really impressed me was how they handle the whole “hotel in a mall” concept. The entrance feels separate and sophisticated, not like you’re checking into some glorified mall kiosk. The rooms are genuinely spacious by Manila standards, and honestly, the soundproofing is better than some boutique hotels I’ve stayed at in quieter neighborhoods. I was on the 15th floor facing Palm Drive, and even during rush hour, it was surprisingly quiet. The breakfast setup is solid too – not just the usual continental spread, but actual Filipino dishes that don’t taste like they’ve been sitting under heat lamps all morning. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator wait times during peak shopping hours, but I guess that comes with the territory. Still, for the convenience factor alone – being able to grab dinner at Greenbelt, do some last-minute shopping, or just people-watch in one of Manila’s safest areas – it’s hard to beat this spot.

  The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was perfect as it is next door to a mall (Glorietta) and short walking distance to the other malls (SM, Ayala, Greenbelt). The complimentary breakfast was nice, as well as the complimentary daily water bottles.
