Walking into what I thought would be just another high-rise accommodation and finding myself in something that honestly feels more like a luxury apartment than a typical hotel room. I mean, when you’re staying in the Avida Towers complex in Sucat, you’re already getting that residential vibe that’s pretty different from the usual tourist hotel experience in Manila.

The thing about this five-star place is that it really delivers on the “suites” part of its name – and I’m talking full kitchens with decent appliances, separate living areas where you can actually spread out, and these floor-to-ceiling windows that give you some pretty impressive views of the metro skyline. The location in Paranaque is actually brilliant if you know the area – you’re close enough to Alabang’s business district that you don’t get stuck in the worst traffic, but you’re also not completely cut off from everything interesting. There’s this solid mix of local restaurants within walking distance (the street food around Sucat Road is honestly some of the best I’ve had), and you can get to the airport in about 20 minutes without the usual Manila traffic nightmares.

What really sold me on the place, though, was how quiet it stays despite being in such a busy area. The building’s setup means you don’t get the street noise that drives you crazy in other parts of the city, and the staff – well, they actually remember your name after the first day, which sounds small but makes such a difference. The parking situation is straightforward too, none of that circling-the-block nonsense you deal with in Makati or BGC. I stayed during what’s usually a pretty hectic season, and check-in was smooth, the elevators worked consistently (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue in Manila), and housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive. If you’re doing business in the south Metro area or just want to experience Manila without staying right in the chaos of the main tourist zones, this spot hits that sweet spot of luxury and practicality that’s harder to find than you’d think.

Hotel in Manila booking should be done early, especially during festival season when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural events and street parades at historic venues.
