It’s tucked away in this residential tower that honestly feels more like staying at a wealthy friend’s place than a typical hotel. I mean, when you’re walking into Sonata Private Residences on Lourdes Drive, you’re not dealing with crowded lobbies or tourist groups – it’s actually refreshingly quiet for being right in the heart of Ortigas.

The location is pretty brilliant if you think about it. You’re literally next door to the Shangri-La and Westin (hence the name, obviously), but you’re getting this four-star experience without the premium price tag those big names command. I spent most of my mornings walking over to the Shangri-La’s mall for coffee – takes maybe two minutes – then coming back to what felt like my own private apartment. The suite itself is spacious in that way that makes you want to sprawl out and actually relax, not just crash for the night. Big windows, decent city views, and honestly the bed was comfortable enough that I kept hitting snooze way too many times.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know everyone by name within a day or two – there’s something to be said for staying somewhere that’s not processing hundreds of guests daily. The building sits right where Lourdes meets San Miguel Avenue, so you’re connected to pretty much everything in Mandaluyong without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of traffic chaos. Getting to BGC is straightforward, and if you need to head to Makati, you’re not dealing with the usual Ortigas bottleneck situation. Parking was never an issue either, which – let’s be honest – is half the battle in Metro Manila. The 9.1 rating makes sense to me; it’s one of those places that just works without trying too hard to impress you with flashy amenities you’ll never use.

  Very close to the mall it is just a walking distance. My host Lilibeth even if I did not meet her personally, she is very nice to deal with. The guards are all nice and the reception attendants also always smiling and easy to talk to.

  It is so close to my convention venue and to a lot of malls😃. The place gives a home-y vibes and it is so convenient because everything you need is readily available, even the slippers, which was a great help since I forgot to bring my own This is actually my 2nd stay and this place will most likely be my crib whenever I go to my convention, which happens 2x in a year😃. The owner is also very accommodating and friendly😃. The maintenance service was also fast. 👌
