I’ll be honest, when I first pulled up to Matchi in Las Pinas, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – it’s tucked away in this residential subdivision called Doña Manuela that you’d probably miss if you weren’t specifically looking for it. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones hiding in plain sight. This four-star spot turned out to be exactly what I needed when I was exploring the southern part of Manila and wanted something that felt more like a local discovery than a tourist trap.

The thing about staying in Pamplona Tres is that you’re really getting a feel for how people actually live in this part of the metro – it’s quieter than the chaos of central Manila, but you’re still connected to everything. I mean, you can easily get to the main commercial areas when you need to, but when you come back to Matchi at the end of the day, there’s this sense of stepping away from all that noise. The staff here actually remembers your name after the first day, which honestly surprised me (in the best way). They’ve got this genuine warmth that you don’t always find in bigger hotels, and they seem to really know the neighborhood – like, they’ll tell you which local eateries are worth trying and which jeepney routes make the most sense depending on where you’re headed.

What really won me over was how thoughtfully everything’s set up. The rooms have this clean, modern feel without being sterile, and the beds are genuinely comfortable – I’m picky about that stuff, so trust me when I say you’ll sleep well here. There’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right rather than overwhelming you with flashy amenities you’ll never use. The Wi-Fi actually works reliably (always a concern in this part of town), and the air conditioning is quiet enough that it won’t keep you up at night. Plus, parking is straightforward, which anyone who’s driven around Manila will appreciate more than they can express. I stayed here during a relatively busy period and never felt like the place was overwhelmed or that service suffered. If anything, there’s this calm efficiency that makes you feel like you’re in good hands. It’s the kind of place where you can tell the owners actually care about the experience they’re creating, not just filling rooms.

  What could be improved: A bit dirty and leaking water in the downstairs bathroom
  Dusty all over wth cobwebs in almost every corner, webs had small house spiders in them, I had to take them all off, was essy but would’ve been better to not have to do that
