The Henry Hotel Manila Overview

You know what caught me off guard about The Henry Hotel Manila? It’s tucked away on FB Harrison Street in Pasay, and honestly, the location threw me at first – I mean, you’re not exactly in the heart of Manila’s tourist circuit here. But after spending a few days there, I actually think that’s part of its charm. This four-star spot sits in this interesting pocket where you get a more authentic slice of local life without being completely cut off from everything.

The building itself has this boutique feel that’s refreshingly different from the massive chain hotels you usually see around Manila. When I walked into the lobby, there was this warm, almost residential vibe – like staying at a well-designed friend’s place rather than some impersonal tower. The staff actually remembered my name by day two, which doesn’t happen often at hotels this size. I spent quite a bit of time in the common areas because they’ve got these cozy corners where you can actually work or just hang out without feeling like you’re camping in a corporate conference room. The rooms are clean and well-thought-out – nothing fancy, but everything works the way it should, and the beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses, so that matters to me).

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re still in Metro Manila. The street noise doesn’t really penetrate much, and the neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you can walk around and grab food from local spots that aren’t tourist traps. There’s a 7-Eleven practically next door, which sounds mundane but trust me, it’s incredibly handy when you need basics or late-night snacks. Getting to the airport from here is straightforward since you’re already in Pasay – no epic traffic battles through the city center. I did notice the area gets a bit quiet after dark, so if you’re looking for nightlife within walking distance, this might not be your first choice. But honestly, that worked for me since I was there partly for work and needed somewhere I could actually get decent sleep. The whole experience felt more genuine than staying in some of those massive complexes in Makati or BGC, and the 8.6 rating it has makes perfect sense – it’s one of those places that does the fundamentals really well without trying to be something it’s not.

Reviews of The Henry Hotel Manila

  • Hotel stay with a private feel – Mayette from United States – September 12, 2025 (10/10)

The property had a nostalgic charm. It was like being in a relative’s house. The staff were friendly, polite and accommodating. Food at Apartment 1B was consistently good.

What could be improved: I wish the room’s lighting fixtures were brighter.

  • By far the best qualty and characterful property we stayed at in the Philippines – Laurence from Australia – July 10, 2025 (10/10)

The authentic bungalow-style historic character is preserved whilst providing all necessary comforts and excellent service at a reasonable price. Rooms retained the cool 1940s aesthetic including the tile floors and shuttered windows, whilst functioning well. The intimate cafe/restaurant provided tasty food and the garden pool was a private oasis.

What could be improved: Nothing, everything pleased us

  • It was my second time, and it was almost like home coming. The staff greeted us like “Welcome home “. Restful and wonder – Annika from United States – July 2, 2025 (10/10)

The property is an oasis in the middle of Manila. Quite, peaceful and welcoming.

  • Beautiful place for a short stay in Manila. – Jane from Australia – June 18, 2025 (10/10)

Breakfast was 5 star. Location perfect. Garden setting a respite from busy city and seemed to keep the air fresher. Very quiet. Loved the old colonial buildings and the old tiled floors and the timber work.

What could be improved: There could have been black tea and milk provided. That would have made it perfect. Restaurant closed early but no bother.

  • Diamond in the Rough – Shentz from Philippines – June 6, 2025 (10/10)

    Everything.

What could be improved: not complaint but observed.I think the rooms should go through a maintenance programme. Numerous electric sockets didnt work or were worn and didnt hold a plug. Sink fawcett loose. Shower floods bathroom requires raised area at shower entrance not enough raise abovr drain height.

Although the decor is very tired the hotel facilities were good and the grounds were perfect. Hard to believe you were in the middle of busy Manila and not in a rain forest.

  • Very good option for a stay in Manila. About halfway between the airport and old town. – Tony from Australia – March 21, 2025 (9/10)
