I’ll be honest – when I first heard about The Journeyman Suite at Covent Garden Sta Mesa Manila, I was a bit skeptical. Sta Mesa isn’t exactly the first district that comes to mind when you think of trendy Manila stays, but that’s actually what makes this place interesting. This four-star property sits right on Old Sta. Mesa Street, and you know what? It’s got this understated charm that really grew on me.

The thing about staying in Manila is that you’re either dealing with the chaos of Makati’s business district or the tourist crowds in Intramuros – but Sta Mesa feels refreshingly authentic. You’re close enough to everything (maybe 15 minutes to Malacañang if you’re curious about the presidential palace area), but far enough that you can actually hear yourself think at night. The hotel itself has this boutique feel – not trying too hard to be fancy, but everything’s well thought out. The suites are genuinely spacious, which is saying something in Manila where “suite” sometimes means they threw in a tiny sitting area. Here, you actually get room to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase.

What really won me over was the staff’s local knowledge – they pointed me toward this hole-in-the-wall lechon place about three blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise. And honestly, the area’s got character. You’ll see jeepneys rumbling by during the day, street vendors setting up in the early morning, real Manila life happening outside your window. The hotel’s got solid soundproofing though, so it’s not like you’re camping on the street. I mean, you might catch some of the city’s energy, but it’s not overwhelming. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting – it’s not trying to be the Manila Hotel or some flashy resort, but for travelers who want to experience the city without all the pretense, it really delivers. Plus, the price point lets you spend your money on actually exploring instead of just paying for marble lobbies you’ll walk through twice.

  I liked the unit since it is spacious. The unit is also clean and has a fully functional kitchen wherein the guests can cook meals. There are many shops nearby, too.
  
  What could be improved: It took a while to check-in since the guest names submitted to the building admin is incomplete. However, the said concern is handled immediately by the host.

  It was a large apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was clean. Had kitchen utensils and a kettle as well as a fridge. would recommend this place for families and couples

  Super comfortable space for a family or group of friends. Complete set of furniture on living and bedroom even kitchen appliances and utensils. Bathrooms are very clean. They also have complimentary coffee packs when you arrive.

  The Journeyman Suite at the Covent Garden, Sta Mesa is a very beautiful and comfortable place to stay. The place is clean, the furnitures are new, and is wide enough for 4 people. It is also very accessible to a lot of stores (convenience store, fast food restaurants.) The unit is fully airconditioned (one for the living area, one for each bedroom-total of three), two television both with netflix. The kitchenware are also complete and clean. The bed mattress is also soft.
