Citadines Salcedo Makati Overview

You know what really caught me off guard about Citadines Salcedo Makati? It’s how they managed to create this perfect bubble of calm right in the middle of one of Manila’s busiest business districts. I mean, you step outside and you’re immediately hit with the energy of Makati – the honking jeepneys, street food vendors, and that constant hum of city life – but inside, it actually feels like a proper retreat. The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, which I appreciated after dealing with some of the more over-the-top hotels in the area.

The apartments themselves (because that’s really what they are) surprised me with how thoughtfully designed they were. I stayed in one of their one-bedroom units and honestly, the kitchen setup was better than my actual apartment back home. They’ve got proper cookware, a decent-sized fridge, and even a washer-dryer combo that actually works – trust me, that’s not always a given in this part of the world. The four-star rating feels spot-on; it’s polished without being pretentious. What really sold me was the view from the upper floors – you get this amazing perspective of Salcedo Village’s tree-lined streets, and if you’re lucky enough to face the right direction, you can catch glimpses of the Makati skyline stretching toward BGC. The soundproofing is surprisingly effective too, which matters when you’re on Valero Street where the traffic never really stops.

Here’s the thing about the location that the typical hotel descriptions won’t tell you – you’re literally a three-minute walk from Salcedo Saturday Market, which is this fantastic weekend food market that locals actually go to (not just a tourist trap). During the week, you’ve got some of Manila’s best restaurants within walking distance, plus you’re close enough to Ayala Avenue that grabbing a taxi or Grab to anywhere in the metro is pretty straightforward. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood well, and they’ll give you the kind of local recommendations that you won’t find on TripAdvisor – like which jeepney route gets you to Intramuros without getting stuck in traffic for two hours. The service feels personal rather than scripted, probably because many of the guests are long-term business travelers who return regularly. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I needed to be in Makati for more than just a few days – it’s one of those places where you can actually settle in and feel like you’re living in the city rather than just passing through it.

Reviews of Citadines Salcedo Makati

  • A comfortable stay with room for improvement. – Grace from Singapore – September 13, 2025 (9/10)

This is my fourth stay at Citadines Salcedo if I'm not wrong. I didn't have to think of alternative accomodations while in Manila because I've always had a good stay here, from the staff to the comfortable room to the location. This time round, I was a little apprehensive because the reviews on booking.com were on the negative side. But I realized it was related to the breakfast because the cafe that serves breakfast was under renovation. Hence breakfast was being delivered to the rooms but came cold. However, I realised it was a minor problem. The staff did their best to bring breakfast according to the time I indicated. And the portions were very substantial. A bit on the cold side but you could heat it up in the microwave. I still enjoyed my stay overall. Room was spacious and if there was anything I needed, I just needed to ask and the staff would do their best to help. Like I wanted more towels and they delivered. Thank you to the friendly and wonderful staff who always had a smile on their faces and greeted me when I left or returned to the hotel.

What could be improved: Housekeeping can be improved. The shower gel and hair conditioner ran out on the second day of my stay while I was showering. It shouldn't happen if housekeeping checked while cleaning the room.
I used the washing machine and the dryer at the laundrette. However, the dryer didn't work. I realized that when I took the clothes out of the dryer. Hope this can be rectified. One of the staff members was kind to help us with using the newer dryer.

Although I had a little issue when I first arrived. This issue was discussed with Mr Ryle Sylvester and although the issue could not be resolved due to refurbishments.
