The Bayleaf Intramuros Overview
You know what caught me off guard about The Bayleaf Intramuros? How quiet it actually gets once you’re inside, despite being right there on the corner of Muralla and Victoria Streets. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of historic Intramuros, but the hotel does this clever thing with its layout that keeps most of the street noise out of the rooms – though honestly, the occasional kalesa clip-clopping by is kind of charming anyway.
This four-star place has that boutique feel without being pretentious about it. The lobby’s got these beautiful Filipino touches – hand-carved wooden panels and local artwork that actually means something, not just generic hotel art. What I really appreciated was how the staff genuinely knows the area. When I asked about getting to Rizal Park, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he walked me outside and showed me the exact gate to use for the shortest walk. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference when you’re trying to navigate Manila‘s hectic streets.
The rooms are well thought out, especially for the space they’re working with. I stayed on the third floor and had this nice view of the old stone walls – you can actually see Fort Santiago from some of the higher floors, which is pretty cool when you think about all the history right outside your window. The air conditioning works like a dream (crucial in Manila’s humidity), and the Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building. One small thing though – the shower pressure varies depending on the time of day, probably because of the old plumbing infrastructure in this part of the city. Not a dealbreaker, just something to keep in mind if you’re particular about your morning shower routine. The hotel’s restaurant serves decent Filipino comfort food, and their breakfast spread has both local and international options – though honestly, you’re missing out if you don’t venture out to try some of the street food vendors just outside Intramuros’ gates. The location really is the star here. You can walk to San Agustin Church in about five minutes, and Casa Manila is practically next door. Plus, you’re close enough to Binondo that a quick tricycle ride gets you to some of the best Chinese-Filipino food in the city. For what you get – especially considering that 8.3 rating reflects real guest experiences – it’s solid value in a part of Manila where you could easily pay more for a lot less character.

Our Experience at the Hotel – Warm, Welcoming, and Wonderful!
From the moment we booked, communication via email was prompt and helpful, which made us feel confident even before we arrived. Despite our late-night check-in (close to midnight), the staff welcomed us warmly and made the whole process smooth and easy.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-prepared. We ordered room service shortly after checking in — I had the hotel’s recommended burger, and my wife chose a pasta dish. Both meals exceeded our expectations — absolutely delicious! The breakfast was good.
On our final evening, we had dinner at the Sky Deck, which was a perfect way to end our stay. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was excellent, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We also used the hotel taxi to get to the Manila airport, which was reasonable and good too.
Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this hotel to others. Thank you to all the excellent staff for making our stay so enjoyable!

The hotel is very near to the Bureau Of Immigration.
It near the Historical landmarks within Intramuros and the oldest churches.
I learned a lot from our one day tour.
What could be improved: There is always a room for the staff to improve themselves in dealing with guests especially the foreign people.
They have their own culture for us to consider and adjust. Thank you so much Supervisor Lester for being so cordial and for showing excellent costumer service. Train your staff more to be like you. BRAVOA great location with a wonderful staff – Christopher from United States – July 2, 2025 (9/10)

Location in the old Manila City was perfect. Great view from our room. Rooms were comfortable for staying in after a day of sightseeing. Staff were extremely attentive in the restaurant.
What could be improved: I would like to see a greater effort made towards sustainable options for a 4-star hotel e.g. pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a water cooler on each floor to refill water bottles.Beautiful accommodation in the perfect location to visit. – Kenneth from United States – June 7, 2025 (9/10)
Perfect location just inside the city walls. The included breakfast was very enjoyable. We loved the rooftop restaurant, excellent food and beautiful views.
What could be improved: Hotel is beginning to show its age., but is being well maintained.3 night stay in Intramuros. – Anne-marie from Australia – May 30, 2025 (9/10)
Location was brilliant. Easy to explore the historical area of Intramuros. The buffet breakfast was very good. I also went to the Skydeck and one of the other restaurants, both were excellent. Staff were very helpful.
What could be improved: My fault for choosing the cheapest room that didn’t have windows. Felt claustrophobic. Could also hear other guests on corridor slamming their doors shut.
